PANJIM: Two nominations were filed for the panchayat by-elections to be held in the State on June 23.
According to the State Election Commission (SEC), one nomination was filed for the ward number III (reserved for ST candidate) of Querim village panchayat while, another nomination was filed for ward number I (woman) of Assolna village panchayat.
The process of filing nomination papers started on June 5. However, no nominations were filed on that day. On June 6, one nomination was filed for ward number II of Volvoi village panchayat and another nomination was filed for ward number II (woman) of Seraulim village panchayat. With nominations filed on Friday, the total number of nominations filed so far has gone up to four.
The last date to file nomination papers is June 12 from 10 am to 1 pm. The scrutiny of nominations will be held on June 13 from 10 am onwards till it is completed, while withdrawals will be allowed on June 14 from 10 am to 2 pm.
The polling will be held on June 23 from 8 am to 5 pm.
