MARGAO: The South Goa District Road Safety Committee on Tuesday decided to set up police booths at the major junctions in order to avoid the rising fatalities due to road accidents, as the Committee held its meeting at Margao.
The meeting was conducted under the chairmanship of the South Goa Member of Parliament Francisco Sardinha at the Matanhy Saldanha Administrative Complex, Margao and took stock of the rising fatalities due to road accidents in South Goa as 9 persons lost their lives in the last eight days.
Among the other issues discussed at the meeting were the need to paint all speed breakers in South Goa, lack of speed limit signage, compilation of quarterly district level road accident statistics and need for status report on road safety measures by NHAI.
