Panel recommends allowing a full house for ISL final

Only fully vaccinated or people with COVID-19 negative certificate to be permitted at Fatorda Stadium

PANJIM: After two years of closed doors football, the Indian Super League is all set to open the Stadium for the general public in their ultimate match of the Season eight when Hyderabad FC clash against Kerala Blasters for the ISL title.

The Expert Committee on COVID-19 management has recommended allowing spectators with full capacity for the Indian Super League (ISL) final to be played at Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium, Fatorda on March 20.

The stadiums were closed for spectators in 2020 where the final match between ATK and Chennaiyin FC was played behind closed doors. Ever since, the stadiums were closed for the fans for the two entire seasons.

However, only fully vaccinated people with COVID-19 negative certificate will be permitted at the stadium.

The Expert Committee held its meeting on Thursday to discuss and decide on a single agenda for the ISL final.

Speaking to media persons post meeting, Goa Medical College and Hospital (GMC) Dean Dr Shivanand Bandekar said the Committee has recommended to the government to allow spectators with full seating capacity of the Fatorda stadium for ISL final.

Bandekar said COVID-19 appropriate behavior will have to be followed like mandatory wearing of masks.

Goa’s daily COVID-19 tally has been below 10 with 73 active cases as on date.

The government has already allowed casinos, hotels, spas, commercial establishments and others to operate with 100 per cent capacity.
