Panel submits house-to-house survey data on COVID-19

PANJIM: The Committee headed by Dr Jagadish Cacodcar, Professor and Head of the Department of Preventive and Social Medicine, GMC has completed and submitted the report on the house-to-house survey data. 

The State Executive Committee, headed by Chief Secretary Parimal Rai, decided that around 5,000 cases having influenza Like illness (IL’) symptoms, tests for which will be undertaken in a phased manner as per the testing protocol.

Secretary, Health Nila Mohanan informed that it has been decided to install the Smart Kiosks (under CSR) facilitating to take samples safely, in order of priority, at the border check posts, industrial estates, Panjim Urban Health centre, Airport and MPT. 

This expansion of the sample taking facility will decentralise the process and help in safe collection of samples, she added. 

Five people (two by a railway track and three by sea) who had entered the State from Karwar side with the connivance of nine boat owners/fishermen are presently put in the paid quarantine and will have to undergo requisite tests for COVID-19. 

The Police Department has registered FIRs and is taking further legal action against all those involved. The Fisheries Department will take steps, as per law, to cancel the licence of the boat owners/fishermen.

SEC advised augmenting the security for manning the access control points of the industrial estates by using private security agencies for access control, through the local industrial associations under the supervision of the police force. The SEC advised gradual starting of the permitted activities by utilising the available manpower and resources by according priority to the works that needs to be completed before the monsoon.

The SEC was also apprised that KTCL ran 149 buses and ferried about 1528 government staff. City bus service was also provided in Vasco, Margao and Panjim for the government servants and other healthcare workers. KTCL will augment its services for some of the interior locations with 12 more buses from tomorrow. 

The SEC appreciating the Collector and the Incident Commander for well management of the centre created for the people from North East at SAI Hostel, Mapusa, North Goa said the initiative needs to be further expanded.
