PANJIM: The Goa Board of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education (GBSHSE) Thursday constituted a committee to study the feasibility of introducing the Continuous Comprehensive Evaluation (CCE) for Std IX from the academic year 2014.
The six member committee is headed by an ex-headmaster Mario Quadros and will submit a report in December this year after studying various CCE modules of other States including CBSE.
The Goa Board Chairman J R Rebello said that plans are on to introduce CCE for Class IX in 2014 and for Class X in 2015.
“We will assess the implementation of the CCE at both these stages after which the Board will look into the extension of the CCE to Classes XI and XII,” Rebello said.
The Board has also decided to conduct workshops and training programs for teachers to prepare for implementation of CCE.
In another major decision, the Goa Board has granted concessions to students who partake in sports and cultural activities at the national and international level to answer the Board exams of Classes X and XII as private candidates.
“Because of these activities many have to discontinue classes and appear for public exams conducted by the Board as private students,” Rebello said adding that the members of the Goa Board felt that such students could be extended the facilities of age relaxation, in addition to entitlement of sports merit marks under the policy as applicable.
The Goa Board also constituted its Board of Studies on Thursday.
