Panic in Ponda as cases rise

PONDA: There was a sense of panic across Ponda as the suspected cases rose to 18 although the confirmatory tests are still awaited. This comes close on the heels of the recent development after the detection of cases at the Ponda Police station. It may be recalled that on Wednesday, two police constables and a police inspector were found positive. Following which, 149 police staff was tested at the Ponda sub-district hospital and 15 of them, which includes a 108 ambulance driver tested positive. All the patients are learnt to be from various parts of Ponda and also other parts of Goa.  

Further, the Director General of Police (DGP) and the Superintendent of Police (SP) inspected the Ponda Police station, which has been shut down for public.  The senior official asked the police staff to strictly follow social distancing. They also distributed mask and sanitisers to the Ponda Police.
