PANJIM: Goa Pradesh Congress Committee (GPCC) General Secretary Amarnath Panjikar is likely to be the chairman of the reconstituted Goa Pradesh Communication and Media Department.
Trajano D’Mello, Tulio de Souza, Shriniwas Khalap, Ashish Kamat, Tanveer Khatib, Royla Fernandes and Mahadev Khandekar are now also likely to be the members/spokespersons of the party.
All India Congress Committee Goa incharge Dinesh Gundu Rao on Wednesday dissolved the Goa Pradesh Communication and Media Department with immediate effect and has asked the GPCC President Girish Chodankar to reconstitute the Communication and Media Department and to submit the new list for approval within a fortnight.
One of the reasons for dissolving the Goa Pradesh Communication and Media Department was that most of the members were inactive and they will be replaced.
Panjikar, Tulio de Souza and Trajano D’Mello are the only spokespersons to be retained even as it remains to be seen whether Trajano would continue as one of the spokespersons of the party following his attack on Leader of the Opposition Digambar Kamat and Curtorim MLA Aleixo Reginald Lourenco for joining hands with the Goa Forward Party (GFP), a former ally of the BJP-led National Democratic Alliance (NDA) for the Margao Municipal Council elections, last week.
Trajano’s outburst had later forced the GFP to formally announce the break-up from the BJP-led NDA.
