Panjim-Chimbel bus owners chide Sudip Tamankar
HERALD REPORTER
PANJIM, OCT 15
Bus owners operating their vehicles on the Panjim-Chimbel route have accused Sudip Tamankar, Secretary of the All Goa Private Bus Owners Association, of spreading false propaganda about them in the media, thus creating a negative image about their business in the eyes of the commuters.
One of the operators Prashant Borkar said there were false claims in the media that the Panjim-Chimbel bus owners were not enforcing the drive called by the RTO and AGPBOA. On the contrary, Tamankar, who operates on the same route have been caught violating the law during the drive, he claimed.
Borkar asserted the AGPBOA President’s vehicles were recently fined by the RTO for violating rules (i.e. overloading and non-issuance of tickets) when he himself claims to be enforcing the drive.
A complaint signed by nine of the Panjim-Chimbel operators maintained Tamankar has been using the AGPBOA banner to threaten RTO officials and bus owners in order to settle personal scores. “We will in no way support any action taken by this association as this body has individuals fighting for their personal gains,” they observed.
