PANJIM: The Panjim Police arrested two persons of an interstate gang operating in the name of “Raziya Gang” involved in a Miramar house burglary case.
The alleged history-sheeters Arman Khan 33, native of Gokulpuri, North East, Delhi, and Pawan Gaud , 22 from Bhiwandi, Anjur Phata, Maharashtra, were nabbed by the police within 24 hours after the theft was reported.
According to the police, Nishtha Tiwari, resident of Miramar, lodged a complaint stating that unknown persons had broken the main door of her flat on July 1 in the afternoon and stole a bag containing a wrist watch, a pair of earrings and gold pendant, some rare old coins and other items, all worth Rs 75, 000.
Addressing a press conference, North Goa SP Akshat Kaushal said the accused were also involved in a house burglary committed in Verna police station jurisdiction. “All stolen items from Verna and Panjim were valued at around Rs 3.5 lakh and been recovered from the accused,” said the SP.
According to the SP, Arman Khan is a wanted criminal in Delhi and other states and has been involved in more than 25 house breaking thefts while two robbery cases have been registered against Pawan Gaud in Thane, Maharashtra.
He said the case was cracked with the help of a number plate of a scooter given on rent by a rent-a-bike operator. The scooter was taken on rent from Colva where the accused were staying in a guest house.
