PANJIM: The Panjim police on Tuesday busted a three-member gang from Shivamogga, Karnataka involved in bag lifting and stealing of high end cellphones in Goa, Maharashtra and Karnataka.
The thieves identified as D K Lakhani (26), Sandeep Siddanamatti (30) and Santosh Bhovi (25) were arrested from Zorint, Zuarinagar and Sancoale, where were presently residing. The police have seized as many as 23 cell phones and other articles all totally valued at Rs 7.50 lakh. The gang targeted hotels, lodging rooms and crowded places for committing the crime.
Of the three accused, Lakshani and his four accomplices was arrested by the Panjim police in 2020 in a theft case and were convicted by the Court. Santosh is wanted in a crime registered at the Manipal Police Station in Karnataka.
