PANJIM: The Panjim Regional Transport Office (RTO) will be fully functional beginning Thursday and will operate from the PWD premises at Patto near the Old Patto bride.

Officials said that over 95 percent of the data is safe, while records of old vehicles have been lost in the fire that engulfed the KTC bus stand complex on Monday.

Speaking to Herald, Assistant Director of Transport-Tiswadi, B Sawant said the office has already shifted to the PWD premises and will function from there till the old office, gutted in the fire, is repaired. He said the office will be functional from Thursday.

“We are trying our best to fix the systems and transfer the files and data to the new premises,” he said. He said that over 95 percent of the data is safe, all the systems, printers, and the server are safe even after the fire and from the heat that was generated.

“All the data of the vehicles which are on road from 1996 to 2017 is safe, only that of old vehicles, prior to 1996, that are not on the road has been lost in the fire,” Sawant said.
