PANJIM: Tourism Minister Manohar Azgaonkar on Tuesday presented prizes to the winners of Shigmo parade held in Panjim recently.
The prize distribution ceremony was organized by Panaji Shigmotsav Samiti at Club Gaspar Dias, Miramar.
Speaker Dr Pramod Sawant, Siddharth Kunkalienkar, Menino D’Souza, Director of Tourism, Mangaldas Naik, Working President of Panaji Shigmotsav Samiti and Sandeep Naik Treasurer of Panaji Shigmotsav Samiti were present.
Azgaonkar said that people from across the world visited Goa during Shigmotsav which helped to boost tourism.
Congratulating the winners, Sawant said this is the time when people get the opportunity to exhibit their talent, and work in unison thus promote fraternity among people of different faith.
Kunkalienkar lauded the work done by committee members for arranging the Shigmo parade successfully.
In the float category the winners were Adpai Yuvak Sangh, Adpai, Shri Shantadurga Mahadev Pratishtha, Kavale and Kumbharjua Nagrik Samitee respectively.
In the Romtamel Shree Mandaleshwar Managuru Sigmotsav, Vaze-Shiroda, Suyog Sigmoutsav Mandal, Adpai, Ponda and Swarsai Sigmoutsav Mandal, Khorlim-Mapusa were declared the winners.
The first three prizes in the folk dance category, went to Savoi Verecho Sakhyahavi- Savoi Verem, Saraswati Kala Mandal, Curti- Ponda and Shri Gurukrupa kala Mandal, Pisgal-Priol.
In fancy dress competition (junior) category, Sarvadhnya Sandip Patil, Anushka Moraskar and Sanket Sandip Naik were the winners.
In the fancy dress competition (senior) category, Yoganand Raikar, Pramod Morlekar and Rohit S Naik were declared the winners.
Shrinivas Dempo, President of Panaji Shigmotsav Samiti welcomed, Dr Ajay Vaidya compered while Shantaram Naik, Secretary of Panaji Shigmotsav Samiti proposed the vote of thanks.
