PANJIM: Within a fortnight, Goa police has issued another order asking Panjim Traffic Cell to shift to Dona Paula and Anti-Narcotic Cell (ANC) Police Station from Santa Cruz to Panjim as the Old Goa police station will now be shifted to Santa Cruz premises.
“In view of the construction of a new building by demolishing the existing old structure, the Old Goa Police is hereby shifted to Santa Cruz Outpost premises. The ANC PS shall continue at PHQ Panjim where it is presently housed. The Panjim Traffic Cell will shift from Santa Cruz Police Outpost to Dona Paula Outpost with immediate effect,” the order issued by Superintendent of Police (Headquarters) said.
The order said that the earlier order issued on October 13, 2023, stands cancelled.
According to an order issued by Office of the Directorate General of Police (DGP) dated October 13, 2023, the Panjim Traffic Cell, which functions from the Police Outpost at Santa Cruz, was to be shifted to the premises where Anti-Narcotic Cell (ANC) Police Station functions at the Goa Police Headquarters, Panjim. The ANC police station was to be shifted to Santa Cruz Outpost premises where the Traffic Cell functions.
Following this, the Panjim Traffic Cell Panjim shifted from the Santa Cruz police Outpost and started functioning from the premises where Anti Narcotic Cell (ANC) was functioning at PHQ, Panjim, and ANC shifted to Santa Cruz Outpost premises where Panjim Traffic Cell was functioning. But now they were issued another order to shift their premises.
It may be recalled that Chief Minister Pramod Sawant laid the foundation stone for the construction of new Old Goa police station building on September 18 this year. The new police station will be built within a year before the St Francis Xavier Exposition in December next year.
