MARGAO: A Kolkata native got drowned on Tuesday while parasailing at Colva.
According to eyewitnesses, Shashi Shekhar Prasad from Khadakpur, Kolkata, was parasailing at Colva when the parachute connection of the sail snapped and he fell into the water.
“We saw him falling into the water as his life jacket got detached due which he got drowned,” said Laurel Abranches, who was an eyewitness to incident.
Shashi was initially taken to Apollo hospital and then shifted to Hospicio, where he was declared dead.
Lifeguards tried to save Shashi by using oxygen mask but their efforts proved futile.
Shashi had come along with his wife to Colva for parasailing.
