MARGAO: The parents of children, who were allegedly beaten by one Caetano Pereira (45) at Navelim on November 8, are aghast that the man was released on bail by the courts and demanded stringent action against him.
On November 8, some minor boys from around the Rosary High School entered the school playground to play when Caetano allegedly stopped them and beat them very badly with a stick. Claiming to be a PTA member he told the children not to use the ground in future.
However, the beating was so severe that when the children returned home, their parents were shocked to see the welts and swelling on their thighs and legs and rushed to the police station to lodge a complaint.
Caetano was arrested and released on bail of Rs 10,000 with a condition to report to the police station for five days.
Bailancho Ekvott President Auda Viegas wondered how the children could be beaten so badly when Goa has the Goa Children Act in force.
