pONDA: Schools in and around Ponda reopened on Monday, which was the first day of the academic year. However many parents are scared to send their children’s due to scorching summer heat. The parents from various parts of Ponda are opposing the opening school while the parents at Savoiverem had openly urged the government that considering the heat wave there is growing demand to postpone reopening of schools and higher secondary by one week by which time monsoon is expected in Goa. The parents at Savoi Verem said they themselves are tired of the scorching heat wave and it would be difficult for their children’s to bear the scorching heat in the classroom.
“The temperature is still hovering at 35 degree
celsius and heat is not ideal atmosphere for young students to attend classes. ‘It is better to wait for one week and start classes,” said parents, while urging the
education department to delay the reopening of new academic year by one week.
