MARGAO: Taking serious note of the recent incident of sexual assaults on school students, villagers and parents of Fatorpa have demanded strict punishment to the alleged PE teacher at a special awareness programme on child and parents responsibilities held at Fatorpa on Saturday.
The said awareness programme was organized upon the initiative of Jennifer Fernandes and Maria Fernandes, panch members of Village panchayat Fatorpa-Quitol, wherein Auda Viegas, President of ‘Bailancho Ekvott’ guided the participants.
Parents, Teachers, besides committee members of Social-Justice Committee and Child Development of village panchayat, and several villagers attended the programme and expressed their concern towards the student community pertaining to the sexual assaults in the school campus.
Auda Viegas in her address gave detailed information about the POCSO act, and parental responsibilities towards their children.
Few parents sought information pertaining to the recently reported incidents of sexual assault of school students in the government high school and urged the police officials to take the case to its logical conclusion and demanded strict punishment for PE teacher.
Panch Jennifer Fernandes said that they were planning to organise more such programmes in the locality so that parents are made aware about their responsibilities towards the child with regard to the abuses against the children.
