Parents want principal, manager reinstated

MAPUSA: The parents of the students of St Thomas Higher Secondary School, Aldona have demanded that the principal and manager, who were removed in the middle of the academic year be reinstated. They sought an explanation from the chairman of the Missionaries of St Francis de Sales (MSFS) over the removal of the two priests, who was unable able to make it to the institution.
It may be recalled that on Saturday, the principal read out a letter sent by the chairman, who was unable to visit the institution as he was ill. A group of parents demanded that the former principal and manager be present at the venue. The principal later read out the letter which stated that the chairman would travel to Goa and also state the reason for transferring the two priests.
Subsequently, both the former principal and manager were given an opportunity to speak.
A parent had alleged that few girls were harassed and molested by two male teaching staff.
The angry crowd had demanded that the two male teachers who were in the staff room be brought before them.
After nearly three hours, the two male teachers were escorted by the police to their vehicles. The principal was also asked not to hold charge until the chairman resolved the issue. Subsequently, the gathered mob dispersed.
