VASCO: Parliamentary Standing Committee on Transport, Tourism and Culture, Chairman Derek O’Brien, 13 Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha members and with four officials visited Goa recently and held discussions on various topics.
Mormugao Port Trust was the Nodal Agency while government of Goa, Archaeological Survey of India, Ministry of Tourism, Goa Tourism, NHAI, State PWD, Indian Navy, Airports Authority of India and New Mangalore Port Trust were the participating organizations at the meeting.
Discussions were held with the representatives of government of Goa, Union Ministry of Road Transport & Highway, NHAI and PWD.
on issues related to development of national highways and road safety in of Goa. Discussion was also held with the Union Ministry of Civil Aviation, Airports Authority of India (AAI), Ministry of Defence, Indian Navy and the Goa government on the enhancement of landing time slots for international and domestic flights.
Talks were also held with the officials of Archeological Survey of India, representatives of Travel, Tours, Transport and Hoteliers Association of Goa, Union Ministry of Tourism and government of Goa on the development of tourism in Goa, and also with the representatives of Union Ministry of Shipping, Union Ministry of Tourism, and state government on Development of Cruise Tourism.
A meeting was also held with the representatives of Union Ministry of Shipping, Mormugao Port Trust and New Mangalore Port Trust and also with the representatives of Employees’ Unions and Port Users on the subject of modernizations of port infrastructure.
