In response to the significant security breach at the Parliament, the Lok Sabha secretariat has suspended eight security personnel, intensifying security measures as the Winter Session resumed. Chaos erupted in both Houses as Opposition leaders demanded a discussion on the breach, leading to adjournments. Following extensive interrogations, the four individuals arrested for the breach have been charged under the anti-terror Unlawful Activities Prevention Act (UAPA), as confirmed by the Delhi Police. Two individuals had jumped into the chamber, releasing yellow gas, while a related incident outside the Parliament resulted in the arrest of a man and a woman protesting with yellow smoke. A fifth suspect, involved in planning the breach, has also been detained.
The Ministry of Home Affairs, responding to the Lok Sabha Secretariat’s request, has initiated a probe into the breach case. Televised footage captured members attempting to apprehend the intruders, identified as Sagar Sharma and Manoranjan D, as they climbed from desk to desk, prompting the adjournment of both Houses. Meanwhile, near New Delhi’s Transport Bhavan, local police detained 42-year-old Neelam and 25-year-old Amol Shinde, who were protesting with yellow smoke outside the Parliament building. The incident has raised serious concerns about parliamentary security, leading to a comprehensive investigation and heightened vigilance in the aftermath.
