MAPUSA: A Tivim resident and an Assam native were killed in two separate road accidents reported at Parra.
The deceased persons have been identified as Rajesh Chatyra Munda (27), an Assam native presently residing at Calangute and Satpurush Vasudev Salgaonkar (42), a resident of Taliwado, Cansa, Thivim.
In the first accident reported at Lingabhat, Parra the accused motorcycle rider Karan Kalidas Chodankar, a resident of Varpal, Mayem, Bicholim while proceeding from Arpora to Mapusa via Parra on reaching near Lingabhat Temple dashed against on coming scooter which was proceeding from Mapusa towards Arpora. The impact was such that scooterist Rajesh sustained serious injuries and was immediately shifted to the District Hospital Mapusa where he succumbed while undergoing treatment.
An offence has been registered against Karan under Sections 279, 337, 304- A of the IPC.
In the second accident reported at Four Road Junction, Brittowado-Parra, the police booked an unknown motorcycle rider who while proceeding from Guirim to Parra rode his vehicle in a rash and negligent manner and dashed against a motorcycle proceeding on main Parra–Saligao road from Mapusa towards Saligao.
The impact was such that the motorcyclist Satpurush sustained serious injuries and was shifted to the District Hospital, Mapusa where he succumbed while undergoing treatment.
The accused rider after the accident fled from the spot without providing medical attention to the injured person.
An offence under Sections 279, 337, 304- A IPC, Sec 134 (a) (b) of M V Act has been registered against the unknown rider. Further investigations are on.
