PANJIM: Claiming that people sitting in Porvorim have no right to criticize the hosting of DefExpo in Betul, Defence Minister Manohar Parrikar said that if not in Betul, then the people of Keri are more than happy to host the event.
“People sitting in Porvorim have no right to criticise the event and I will seek the opinion of the people of Betul once the event is hosted in March this year,” Parrikar said at a BJP function.
Parrikar said that if not in Betul, the panchayat and locals of Keri have offered land of 3.5 lakh sq metres for the event and if that is not enough they would give adjoining land which belongs to the comunidade.
“This is not temporary but they are ready to make it permanent,” he said.
He further said that the DefExpo will bring in a lot of revenue for the State as well as the locals in Betul-Naqueri.
“It will bring in over a lakh of tourists. Normally in March tourism is down and imagine almost all hotels will be full with this event,” he said.
