PANJIM: Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar is back to his ‘fascist and dictatorial’ ways, the Nationalist Congress Party has alleged, after he apparently sought information on RTI applicants and also defended the Gujarat riots as an ‘administrative failure’.
“The Directorate of Information has issued a circular on the instruction of the Chief Minister seeking details of RTI applicants. This is a clear indication that the Chief Minister is out for vengeance against RTI applicants who have been exposing the commissions and omissions of his government,” the party’s chief Nilkanth Halarnkar alleged.
“When he was in the Opposition he made maximum use of the Right to Information Act and today he tries to block the information,” the NCP chief said, even as he demanded that the government immediately appoint a State Information Commissioner and State Information Commissioner.
“The Chief Minister who promised zero tolerance to corruption is in fact abetting in covering up corruption of his government, by not appointing the State Information Commissioner and Chief Information Commissioner. The first step to zero tolerance to corruption is zero tolerance to delaying information,” the NCP chief said.
He also hit out at the chief minister for defending the Gujarat riots by calling them an administrative failure.
“Defending Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi has exposed the Chief Minister, whose wolf face stands exposed,” the NCP alleged.
