Parrikar began his speech narrating how he got into politics at the time of Indian Emergency when he studied at IIT Mumbai. “ I’m proud that my first vote made the difference,” said Parrikar reminiscing his emergency days.
Around 250 people attended the progamme. Parrikar was quizzed on his ideas on how he would change the current status of maladministration and corruption.
However more questions cropped up about education and infrastructure.
Parrrikar said there is need for transparency to avoid corruption in job recruitment even as he maintained that it was not possible to remove corruption totally.
Replying to a question, the Opposition Leader assured that IT habitat at Dona Paula which is lying incomplete will be completed if he is voted to power.
“I would see that IT project is completed with modification and also see that whatever opposition is dealt with,” Parrikar stated.
Opposition Leader said, he has plans to ensure that decongestion in the city. “There is need for a third bridge to enter Panjim city,” he said. Traffic congestion in the city could be reduced if all the government offices are shifted out Panjim, he claimed.
