Goa was the first State in the country to introduce laptop scheme for students under Manohar Parrikar’s chief ministership in 2000.
Speaking on the floor of the House on Wednesday, Parrikar said he does not crave for publicity unlike his counterpart in UP.
“On starting the system (laptop and tablets), a visual of the chief minister (Akhilesh Yadav) on a cycle would pop up. Those who tried to erase that, their hard disk crashed,” he narrated.
“I have distributed thousands (of computers, tablets and notebooks) to students. I did not allow my photo to be used. In fact for any (schemes), I have not allowed my photograph to be used.”
He agreed that when the scheme was introduced, there was no exercise of training the teachers in this probably because of time constraint.
