PANJIM: Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar landed at New York on Wednesday evening for further medical treatment. The Indian Embassy in USA will be monitoring the treatment on a daily basis.
Parrikar, who left for USA at 1.30am on an Air India flight was accompanied by his elder son Utpal and a doctor, reached New York at around 5.30pm India time. The Chief Minister is being treated for pancreatitis.
Sources stated that the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) has been monitoring the treatment given to Parrikar on a regular basis. “The Indian Embassy in USA has been asked to keep the PMO updated on the health on a daily basis,” sources said.
Two officials from the embassy have been assigned the task of checking on the health updates from the Hospital and informing the PMO in Delhi.
Utpal and the doctor are expected to stay with Parrikar during his entire medical treatment.
“When he reached New York his health was very stable. He did not complain of anything. Even during his journey, he was stable and active,” sources said.
The Indian Embassy in the USA had stationed an ambulance to transfer Parrikar after his arrival at New York airport. It is, however, not clear whether Parrikar was driven by ambulance or car to the hospital.
Parrikar has been ailing since February 14 evening. After initial treatment at Goa Medical College and Hospital (GMC), the Chief Minister was shifted to Lilavati hospital in Mumbai on February 15, from where he was later discharged on February 22.
