Parrikar no different from Congress govt on RP: NCP

PANJIM: Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) on Thursday condemned the delay in finalizing the Regional Plan 2021, alleging that the Manohar Parrikar-led government is following the policy of its predecessor in keeping it in abeyance, and allowing selective development based on what is not common in terms of the 2021 and 2001 plans.

The NCP accused Parrikar, who holds TCP portfolio of failure to scrap the RP21, even after 16 months in office. BJP in its election manifesto had assured that it would scrap RP 21, and get a new plan within six months of coming to power.  The NCP spokesman alleged that the BJP-government has fooled people in the name of RP.
“There is a complete U-turn on the issue. Chief Minister had announced that he would scrap the existing plan within six months; however, he fooled people by keeping the same in abeyance and superseding the plan with RP 2001,” he said.
The NCP argued that though the government said that the permissions would be given based on what is common in RP 2001 and RP 2021, what is not common in terms of both the plans is been approved by TCP.  “There is no change… Parrikar government is behaving exactly like the previous government on Regional plan,” was the allegation.
The NCP also doubted the intentions of BJP government on the dance bar issue alleging that the “Chief Minister’s statement that he will not give permission to dance bars is a signal that dance bars are going to come up in Goa.”
NCP claimed that Parrikar had made similar statement on off shore casino but later on allowed them.
