PANJIM: Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar and Health Minister Vishwajit Rane took oath as Members of the Legislative Assembly (MLA) on Monday.
The oath was administered by Speaker Pramod Sawant in the presence of Revenue Minister, Rohan Khaunte, Leader of the Opposition Chandrakant Kavlekar, Panchayat Minister Mauvin Godinho and other MLAs at the Assembly.
“I have already resigned as Rajya Sabha MP and I am back to the original place. I have already decided my priorities as Chief Minister. My priorities as MLA will start from today,” Parrikar told the media Asked about the promise made to appoint an IAS officer in the capital city, the Chief Minister said that his assurance to appoint IAS level officer to study the problems of Panjim constituency will start after proper consultations. “We want to make Panjim a model city and that same principle will be used for other cities to be upgraded,” Parrikar said
Rane said his priority will be the health sector. “My main priority is to put the health sector in place. We have to put GMC back on track,” Rane said.
By-elections to the Panjim and Valpoi Assembly constituencies were held on August 23.
, following the resignations of Siddharth Kuncalienkar from Panjim and Vishwajit Rane from Valpoi.
