PORVORIM: Claiming that ancient architecture was far superior and durable as compared to modern buildings, Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar on Friday stated that Indian culture also had the ability to assimilate various thoughts in the world.
He was speaking at Torda in Salvador-do-Mundo after laying the foundation for the proposed Museum of Indian Architecture at Torda in the presence of Porvorim MLA Rohan Khaunte.
“Ancient architecture is certainly better than the buildings of today, which are collapsing even before their completion,” said Parrikar, in an apparent reference to the collapse of a building under construction at Ruby Residency in Canacona on January 4.
“Indian culture has been influenced by many thoughts and it has ability to absorb every thought in the world,” he said.
Commenting on the State government’s response to tackling garbage in the State, Parrikar informed that the government has begun collecting garbage littered by the side of highways. “Shortly, we will start cleaning major district roads as well,” said Parrikar.
Architect Gerard da Cunha mentioned that Indian architecture is the most diverse in the world, similar to that of Indian culture.
“The Museum of Indian Architecture will unique as it will showcase the unusual architecture of India,” said Da Cunha.
