Parrikar should clarify on MoI: NCP

PANJIM: The Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) Goa has demanded that Defence Minister Manohar Parrikar clarify on the controversial Medium of Instruction (MoI) issue after Bharatiya Bhasha Suraksha Manch accused him of misleading Goans on the subject.

“BBSM said Parrikar lied and misled them on MoI at a press conference yesterday (Wednesday). We want that he clarifies on the issue on why did he lie to his own colleagues,” NCP spokesman Trajano D’Mello said at a press briefing on Thursday.
He stated he does not concur with BBSM on its stand, and the party seeks a clarification from Parrikar on the issue as the accusation was made on a public platform. “If he is really guilty of lying then he should resign as Union minister,” D’Mello said.
BBSM members had stated that before 2012 elections, BJP had shown its complete support to regional languages but took a complete U-turn after forming the government.
