PANJIM: Union Defence Minister Manohar Parrikar on Saturday refused to withdraw his statements made in Pune against actor Aamir Khan. He, instead said, “Many people have said what I said was right.”
“I don’t want to repeat whatever I said in Pune. If someone wants they can see it on YouTube. Till date not a single person has said that whatever I have said is wrong. But In fact they have said whatever I have said is right,” Parrikar said addressing the BJP’s ST convention in Porvorim.
Parrikar had faced criticism for his statement against the actor in Pune last week where he had said that that anyone speaking against the country must be “taught a lesson” the same way as an “actor” and an “online trading company”.
On Saturday Parrikar said there are attempts to defame BJP on behalf of many people. “They can’t digest the fact that BJP is taking people from all strata into its fold. That is why people are trying to create misunderstandings,” he said.
“So many people are working towards creating hatred towards BJP. That is why they have sympathy even towards some anti-national elements,” Parrikar said.
Parrikar said some people think wrongly about the government. “BJP government under Modi is showing the world how to govern. Because of this some political parties which are opposing it will disappear with time,” he said adding that they are afraid of the BJP-led government, which forces them to raise irrelevant issues.
