MARGAO: Taking pot shots at former PWD Minister Churchill Alemao, Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar on Thursday demanded to know the fate of the government money already spent by the previous government when people in Carmona were still complaining of lack of basic amenities such as roads.
“I thought that the former PWD Minister had done all work here. But I am surprised that people are still complaining about absence of roads. This brings the question as to where the money has all gone”, he said, while addressing Carmona villagers after inaugurating the ground-plus-one storey Carmona panchayat ghar on Thursday noon.
Parrikar, however, assured Carmona panch members that he would sanction all pending works in the village before the coming into force of the Election Code of Conduct. “I would like to guarantee the panchayat workers that all road works will be taken up within 2-4 months. You need not worry. The work will be sanctioned before the election code”, he added, while complimenting the panchayat for executing a well-designed panchayat ghar. The estimated cost of the panchayat ghar is put at Rs 31 lakh.
Benaulim MLA Caitu Silva and Chairman of Goa IT Corporation Subhash Faldesaiwere among those present on the occasion.
