Parrikar to chair BJP workers meet tomorrow

PANJIM: Aiming to make some headway in settling the
rebellion call given by the breakaway RSS faction backed by the BBSM, Union
Defence minister Manohar Parrikar will chair a crucial meeting of BJP workers
in Panjim on September 17.

The meeting, to be attended by senior BJP leaders including
Chief Minister Laxmikant Parsekar, will be the first official meeting of party
workers in preparation for the 2017 State Assembly elections.

Parrikar, a former State Chief Minister, had distanced
himself from the ongoing issues surrounding the rebel RSS group headed by
Subhash Velingkar, who had accused the Defence Minister of conspiring against
him with the Sangh.

“Parrikar had decided that only after Ganesh Chaturthi he
will begin preparations for the polls,” sources said adding that ‘the meeting
will have no discussion on the alliance’.

The Defence Minister will be in Goa during the weekend after
which he will travel to Delhi and return on the arrival of Union Shipping
Minister and BJP Goa desk in charge Nitin Gadkari on September 22. “The talks
on alliance with MGP will be held only in presence of Gadkari,” sources said.

Velingkar has already announced a war against the BJP in the
State in the upcoming Goa Assembly election. This is a major cause of concern
for the saffron party as the rebel RSS group is expected to announce its
political alternative by October 2. The group is currently at loggerhead with
the BJP government on the contentious issue of medium of instruction (MoI).
