Parrikar to launch BJP poll campaign on November 5

PANJIM: Though the Union Defence Ministry is facing fresh controversy over the One Rank One Pension (OROP) issue,

on Saturday November 5 Defence Minister Manohar Parrikar will be launching the Bharatiya Janata Party’s 2017 election campaign with a ‘Vijay Sankalp Rally’ in the State.
Gearing up for the polls, BJP will hold a ‘Vijay Sankalp Rally’ in every constituency, reaching out to the people with their welfare schemes and development works. All senior State party leaders like Chief Minister Laxmikant Parsekar, Deputy Chief Minister Francis D’Souza, Cabinet Ministers, and State unit President Vinay Tendulkar will participate in the rally.
“Defence Minister Manohar Parrikar will kick off election campaign by participating in the first Vijay Sankalp Rally to be held in Curchorem on November 5,” BJP MLA Pramod Sawant said on Thursday. He said that Parrikar will not attend all the rallies. “He (Parrikar) will be present only for a few or may be the first rally in Curchorem,” he added. The State leadership is also planning to invite Central leaders to address the rally, he said.
The State will be going to the polls in early 2017. BJP, which managed to gain a clear majority by winning 21 seats in 2012, is confident of retaining power. “We will come to power once again,” Sawant said.
BJP has also decided to accord a grand welcome to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who will visit Goa on November 13 to lay the foundation stone for the Mopa international airport and Electronic City at Tuem.
