PANJIM: Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar has assured to implement a 365-day action plan for Panjim immediately after the results of the by-polls are declared on August 28, an exercise that will later be extended to other towns in the State.
“The reverse countdown of the plan will start from August 29 and it will be completed exactly after a year,” Parrikar told supporters outside the Mahalaxmi Temple, before filing his nomination papers for the August 23 by-polls.
He assured that all issues from development to infrastructure and education to personal problems, employment, property and issues pertaining to basic amenities like water and electricity in Panjim constituency would either be solved or action towards resolving them will start in a year.
“The same strategy, a master plan will be followed for Mapusa, Margao, Ponda and Vasco, and small towns as well. In many places, there is no sewage connection. We will plan a complete roadmap to resolve the issues,” he said.
MLA Alina Saldanha, who along with others accompanied the CM during his visits to the temple and Church, expressed confidence of Parrikar’s victory by a ‘thumping majority’.
“I don’t have to tell you that you (Panjim) are very lucky to have the best candidate. This is a definite victory and this (filing of nomination papers) is just a formality that needs to be fulfilled. The results are well-known and we will see to it that your candidate will win this election with a thumping majority,” she said addressing the supporters.
Claiming that his victory by a huge margin is confirmed, the CM said every development is working in their favour. “Everything is positive, every step or event which is occurring is positive but we do have our base strength and therefore victory is never a question mark,” he said replying to a media query on whether Atanasio Monserrate’s entry into government’s coalition partner Goa Forward Party will be an advantage for him in the by-polls.
“They (Congress) are not getting a candidate. The victory margin will go on increasing,” he said a little before Congress declared its candidates for Panjim and Valpoi constituencies.
To another question whether the government will work towards Congress-mukt Goa, he replied in the positive alleging that Congress introduced the mindset of corruption in the State.
