Parsekar again defends reinstatement of bro-in-law

PANJIM: “Just because he is my relative does not mean he should get more punishment,” Chief Minister Laxmikant Parsekar said,

replying to queries on the reinstatement of his brother-in-law Ghanshaym Malwankar, who was arrested on charges of bribery by the Anti-Corruption Branch.
The Chief Minister has been drawing flak for the reinstatement of his brother-in-law into service, while others still remain suspended.
“There is a law and it will take care of any wrong doing be it by me or any of my relatives,” Parsekar said and asked, “Is being my relative a big crime?”
Giving details of the case, Parsekar said, “It was me who had decided to suspend Malwankar soon after the allegations surfaced… but the suspension has to be reviewed after every three months.”
Pointing to allegations of transfer of police officers from ACB who were handling the case, he said, “Are there no transfers in ACB? Transfer of SPs and DySP or any other officer is routine after every two years then how can it be linked to just one case?”
