CM Parsekar stated that in the last nine months, he had gradually learnt how to smell ‘rats’ while passing files. However, he was not as adept as his predecessor, Defence Minister Manohar Parrikar.
“When I took over from Parrikar, I had to study everything from scratch. I was new to several portfolios, except for the education portfolio. I do not have experience like Parrikar. He had vast knowledge and could smell rats in any file,” said Parsekar, adding, “As a finance minister, I gradually started getting knowledge. Due to this I was able to reply on behalf of my cabinet colleagues to the questions in the recently-held Assembly session. Also, as finance minister, all files come to me. I don’t sign any file blindly, and this policy helped me get a grip on the administration.”
