MARGAO: South Goa Chairperson Nelly Rodrigues on Tuesday reminded Panchayat Minister Laxmikant Parsekar that the District Planning Committees were lying defunct and are only seen on paper for want of government support.
Speaking at an interaction the Minister had with Salcete Panchayat members, Nelly warned that the Zilla Panchayat will not sign the RDA audit report if schemes were not routed through the Zilla Panchayats. “Do not hold the ZP responsible if the audit is not signed this time. The Rural Development Agency department should be atleast allocated to the Zilla Panchayats,” she said.
Nelly demanded to know how the budgetary allocation for projects in the villages could be approved in the absence of plans from the District Planning Committees.
She urged the Panchayat Minister to take up the cause of the Panchayati Raj institutions for higher allocations in the State budget.
