Parsekar, was accompanied by Defence Minister Manohar Parrikar, and the duo handed a cheque of Rs 1.9 cr towards relief for Jammu and Kashmir flood relief.
Speaking to Herald from Delhi, Parsekar said the visit was only to hand over the flood relief cheque.
“The Prime Minister asked several question with regard to the Louis Berger case, which I have replied to. I have updated him on the developments and progress in the case,” he said.
Parsekar, however, said he had no discussions on the Mhadei dispute with Karnataka and Maharashtra.
“The Karnataka CM and members of Assembly met the Prime Minister on the issue and I felt that Modiji did not show much interest on the subject. So, I felt there was no need to rake up the issue unnecessarily,” Parsekar said, reacting to Karnataka’s all-party delegation — comprising 57 members and led by that State’s CM Siddaramaiah — meeting Modi on Monday to request for a settlement on the Mhadei issue.
He made it clear that the Goa government is in no mood to accede to the requests for an out of court settlement as desired by the neighbouring State governments.
“Let the Mhadei water dispute tribunal decide the dispute. I am not in favour of an out-of-court settlement,” Parsekar stressed.
The tribunal was set up by the Centre in 2009 and is currently hearing arguments in the case.
