PANJIM: All Goa Part-Time Instructors on Wednesday held a protest at Azad Maidan demanding regularisation of all special teachers, working under Samgrah Shiksha Abhiyan.
The instructors have also demanded an inclusion of part time teachers for implementation of the New Education Policy (NEP) on regular basis.
There are a total 54 inspectors of special subjects working under SSA, many of whom are working since 2011. They have been appointed on contract basis with a monthly remuneration of Rs 16,125.
However, they informed that the salaries of Art Instructors, Physical and Health Education Instructors and Work Education have been reduced to Rs 7000 per month.
“Our contract has been continuously renewed and the instructors have completed almost a period of 8 years in present service and have 8-9 years of teaching experience. All the said instructors are graduates, a few double graduates and masters, from recognised professional colleges and are well qualified in their respective fields,” they said in a representation made to the Chief Minister Dr Pramod Sawant.
They said that they are named as ‘Part Time Instructors’ but the fact is that they are working for full time from 7.45 am – 1.45 pm, like any other regular teacher.
“We conduct regular classes; take up other assigned duties of the school. Along with respective subject we are also engaged for substitution classes and at times handle scholastic subjects,” they pointed out.
