Parts of Ponda flooded

PONDA: There appears to be no relief in sight for residents of Ponda, who were recovering from the water logging related problems. 
    Earlier this week, the main Ponda nullah was overflowing after heavy rains and stormy winds. Due to this, around a couple of houses were inundated with water.  Cyclone Kyaar only made things worse for locals, as there were flood-like situations Nagzar Curti,Khandepar,  Warkhandem, Opa junction, Ponda old bus stand and surrounding areas.  Commercial establishments and residential complexes were affected with the heavy rain and water entered some of their premises as well. 
The Ponda Fire Station received around 20 calls. These included several incidents of tree falls. At Patnem, a coconut tree had collapsed on house, injuring one of the residents who had to be shifted to the sub district hospital in Ponda.  A huge tree at Mahalwada Marcaim also fell onto the main road early morning, causing a  traffic jam for hours. Kundaim Fire Station personnel later managed to clear the tree.
