Parts of Usgao, Curti declared micro containment zones

PONDA: The South Goa Collector on Wednesday declared Sidheshwarnagar Nagar and Avantinagar areas of Usgao Ganjem Panchayat as micro containment zones following the detection of 27 COVID positive cases. 

Sindhunagar area of Curti-Khandepar has also been declared as micro containment zone after nine persons tested positive. 

Usgao Ganjem deputy sarpanch Ramnath Dangi said, “After a member from the family at Sidheshwarnagar complained of high fever and after undergoing tests he was found positive for COVID-19. Four of his family members too tested positive after the swab tests. Following this, 200 swab samples of residents in surrounding areas including Avantingar were collected. However, most of them who tested positive were from nearby houses situated close to the infected family. Following this, the panchayat informed the Deputy Collector, who visited the spot. The Police and Mamlatdar conducted an inspection to cordon off the areas.

The infected persons include members of seven families.  These areas and the buffer zone are parts of Ward 8 and 7 which have been sealed.

Similarly, Sindhunagar area of Curti Khandepar has also been declared as micro containment zone after nine persons tested positive. 

These include four members of three families and five from two families. 

These areas and buffer zone are parts of ward 7 and 10 which have been sealed.
