Party over: Goa to impose night curfew from 11 pm to 7 am shortly

Panjim:  A key member of the Task Force monitoring Goa’s Covid situation Dr. Shekhar Salkar said that the Government has decided not to impose night curfew from 11 pm to 6 am. The notification is going to be out in the next 24 hours and the curfew will come into effect from the night of Jan 7

Goa Chief Minister Dr Pramod Sawant also told reporters that a decision on night curfew is being contemplated and will be taken very shortly.

Goa has reported a 10.7 percent positivity rate on Sunday as a result of a constant spike in the cases.

“It has been decided to close down classes of 8th and 9th from tomorrow till January 26,” Shekhar Salkar, a member of the Task Force, told reporters in Panaji. He also informed that the students of the tenth, eleventh and twelfth standard would have to attend the school to receive the COVID-19 vaccine. “Once they are vaccinated, they need not attend the classes till January 26,” Salkar said.  Salkar stated that the colleges would be shut down till January 26.

Dr. Salkar also revealed that the order imposing night curfew between 11 pm till 6 am every day by State Administration will be issued by Tuesday evening. He said that the restrictions on indoor activities would be imposed by the state government.
