PANJIM: The newly appointed Goa Congress’ State Coordination Committee under former Union Minister Ramakant Khalap had laid its focus for effective overhaul of the party organisation to provide a strong alternative to the BJP-led government in the upcoming 2022 State Assembly elections.
The State Coordination Committee, constituted in January, held its first meeting on Monday, wherein it decided to expand and strengthen its base in all 40 Assembly constituencies, trying to assess the ground situation, and to rebuild people’s trust on party.
The Coordination Committee, with MLA Aleixo Reginaldo Lourenco with its vice- chairman will also launch the membership drive and reconstruct Booth, District and State committees, including appointment of new State party chief, as per need.
All India Congress Committee (AICC) Secretary and Goa Desk In-Charge Dinesh Gundu Rao will be arriving Goa on two-day visit on February 5-6, during which will chair meeting of the State Coordination Committee, to finalise the programme. AICC Goa Observors Prakash Rathod, Sunil Hanumannavar and Mansoor Khan will also be part of the meeting.
