Party will declare candidates after ECI poll schedule: BJP

Says whoever may be the party candidate the workers will work and seek votes for ‘Lotus’

PANJIM: Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) State president Sadanand Shet Tanavade on Sunday said that names of party candidates for the upcoming Assembly elections will be declared once poll schedule is announced by the Election Commission of India (ECI).
Tanavade said while speaking to media persons at Merces during his tour of Santa Cruz constituency.  He said that candidates will be declared by the party’s Parliamentary Board and added that all will work unitedly for the victory of BJP candidates.
When it was brought to his notice that there were four to five aspirants seeking party tickets, Tanavade said that whoever may be the party candidate, the workers will work and seek votes for the symbol ‘Lotus’ and ensure victory of  party candidates.  
Asked what will be party’s strategy to wrest the Santa Cruz constituency which has always eluded them, Tanavade recalled that on two occasions the BJP candidate had lost the Assembly elections narrowly, once being by a slender margin of 40 votes. He claimed that Tony Fernandes’ joining the BJP has now bolstered the party’s strength and expressed confidence that the party will surely win the seat.
Santa Cruz MLA Tony Fernandes, BJP vice president Anil Hoble, ZP Member Girish Uskaikar, BJP leaders Keshav Prabhu and Hemant Golatkar and others were also present.
During his visit, Tanavade interacted with the party workers and also voters.
