VASCO: Ramesh Chandra Ratn, Chairman of Passenger Service Committee along with four members inspected the Vasco, Dabolim, Cansaulim, Sanvordem, Kulem and other railway stations under the Konkan Railway jurisdiction.
The committee members took stock of catering/vending stalls, book stalls, water booths, platform surface improvements etc.
They interacted with passengers of Vasco da Gama-Kulem passenger train at Vasco, wherein the passengers expressed their satisfaction over cleanliness at the station. The committee inspected the food plaza on Platform No 1 at Vasco and checked the documents and availability of food items, quality etc.
The committee directed to officials to discontinue the use of single use plastic with effect from October 2 and checked the CCTV surveillance at the station.
The panel suggested providing additional stainless steel chairs at Platform No 1 at the station for the passengers’ convenience.
Vasco MLA Carlos Almeida met the committee during the inspection and discussed various issues pertaining to the Station.
At Cansaulim, Cortalim MLA Alina Saldanha highlighted the requirement of a foot over bridge at Cansaulim. The committee also instructed to take up various development activities at Cansaulim station.
At Sanvordem station, Power Minister Nilesh Cabral discussed with the panel the improvement works. He suggested that additional chairs be provided at the station under CSR initiative. The officials took stock of the amenities provided at stations and made suggestions to bring about the improvements at stations .
