The First domestic commercial flight Hyderabad landed at the Manohar International Airport Mopa at 9 am on Thursday, 5 January 2023. On their arrival, the passengers were elated with the traditional music being played and even joined in to sing and dance. But after the initial excitement of the brass band and the décor of the airport died down, the passengers were faced with grim realities at the new airport. Some had to stand in long queues to book their taxis for over half an hour. Others who had booked their taxis found that the taxis were in reality not available at the airport as taxis which left with passengers did not return. And still, others could not book the taxis though they downloaded the app. A number of passengers complained that there was no open Wi-Fi provided to them to book the taxis on the app. There was no special facility for senior citizens as well.
Though the passengers who landed at the Manohar International Airport liked the welcome and loved the ambience of the new airport, they were truly disappointed with the mobility plan and the glitches. It is reported that even some passengers who arrived on the very first flight at 9 am were still lingering for a taxi 2 hours later. “The airport is good but lacks proper facilities”, a passenger claimed. ” I have downloaded the app but no cabs are available for booking. We have been waiting for nearly half an hour, and the next available option is the bus which leaves in another 2 hours. We have no other option but to wait and see if a cab becomes available”, she stated.
