Traffic on the Konkan Railway route was affected throughout the day following the derailing, with the KR either diverting or cancelling trains on the route or arranging trans shipment of the stranded passengers.
KR officials said the Mumbai bound Konkan Kanya Express left the Margao railway station an hour late at around 5.45 pm instead of the normal 4.45 pm.
