MAPUSA: Fear of monkey fever affliction has gripped the residents of Patradevi after a monkey was found dead at Torxem, on Friday.
Some locals found the dead monkey close to the residential area in Torxem and later contacted Sarpanch Baban D’Souza who in turn contacted the health department. The health department officials conducted a panchanama and have sent the monkey to Hyderabad for post mortem to find out the cause of its death.
Meanwhile, Sarpanch D’Souza has requested the health department to restart the vaccination programme in the village to prevent monkey fever.
