PONDA: The Swayampurna Chovot Bazaar was inaugurated at Kavlem, Shiroda and Ponda and the three ministers from the respective areas urged locals to reap benefit from it.
The ministers also said that village vendors and self help groups would be exempted from paying sopo at the 10- day Chovot Bazaar.
Swayampurna Chaturthi Bazaar – a special initiative of the State government to encourage Goan village vendors was inaugurated at Rathamal Kapileshwarim Kavlem by Power Minister Sudin Dhavlikar while Water Resources Subash Shirodkar inaugurated it at Shiroda while another was opened at the Airport Road at Ponda market on Saturday by Agriculture Minister Ravi Naik.
Present on the dais were Kavlem panchayat Administrator Viba Kavlekar, Devendra Dhavlikar, ZP Ganapat Naik, incharge Gaurish Kuttikar Swaypurna Mitra of various panchayats, former sarpanch Rajesh Kavlekar and newly elected panch members of Kavlem.
Speaking on occasion, Power Minister Sudin Dhavlikar urged the villagers of Kavlem, Marcaim, Durbhat, Wadi Talavalim, and Bandora panchayats to support local vendors by buying their products here.
